Books:

The War of Art by Steven Pressfield who says, “Friends used to come to me all the time and say, “I know I’ve got a book in me.” So, I would try to help them. We’d sit up till two in the morning with me explaining the concept of Resistance and psyching my friends up to overcome their self-doubt, their vanity, their fear, their self-sabotage. I did this on about ten different occasions. Of course, nobody ever wrote their book.”

Hardly a day went by when Siphe and Mthuthuzeli November didn’t dance together growing up in South Africa. Now, Siphe is a principal dancer at the National Ballet of Canada and Mthuthuzeli dances in the U.K., but the brothers recently had the chance to perform together again. Siphe joined Tom Power to talk about the piece Mthuthuzeli choreographed and created for them, called My Mother's Son. It was filmed this past summer in London, England and has its world premiere tonight at Toronto’s Fall for Dance North festival. The National Ballet of Canada's newest principal dancer, Siphe November, discusses the piece his brother choreographed for them to perform together.

Health and well-being: Dr. Brian Goldman of CBC’s White Coat Black Art talks about 6 overlooked risks of falls for seniors and how to prevent them. Falls are the No. 1 cause of injury-related hospitalization for Canadian seniors aged 65 and older, according to a 2014 Public Health Agency of Canada report, with about half of these hospitalizations resulting from a fall in the home. It's estimated that between 20 and 30 per cent of seniors fall each year.
