Helping members connect
To CONNECT is one of WASM’s core values. Therefore, WASM is pleased to present a new initiative to help people stay connected while they are apart.
The Blossom project, so called because we hope it will encourage friendships and real connections to blossom, is a friend match-making service between members.
Each interested person would sign up, and once they do so, they will be randomly matched by a computer program with two other members who have also signed up. WASM will then give the e-mails and phone numbers of these individuals to the other two so that they can have someone to connect to, talk with, and share what is going on in their lives. These people will be their “branch”.
Many people are suffering from anxiety, depression, loneliness and the boredom that isolation can bring. The goal is that each member of the branch calls each of the other two at least once a week. We encourage voice contact, as it is warmer and friendlier than e-mail, however, we will consider people who would prefer to stick to e-mail contact only.
If you would like to sign up, please send an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org – Roger will be coordinating this project.
If you have been looking for how to genuinely help someone in this time of crisis, please don’t underestimate the value of your voice and your time. And if you need help, please reach out.
If enough interest is shown, we will be posting conversation starters, tips to keep in touch, and useful links for people who need more help than a phone call can give.
